W. M. Keck Foundation Research Program: Application Process Changing |
What's changing: Keck is moving from its current multi-stage process (concept paper → Phase I → Phase II) to a single-phase application, with concept consultations discontinued. Submission deadlines will fall in December and June, and the window between Stanford's internal deadline and Keck's external deadline will be shorter than before and early preparation will matter more, not less.
What this means for the current cycle: Because these changes affect submission materials, timelines, and our internal review process, the internal competition with the May 21, 2026 deadline was canceled.
What isn't changing: Keck's focus on novel, high-risk, potentially paradigm-shifting research remains the same.
Get ready: upcoming info sessions
Register for a strategic planning session on developing competitive Keck proposals, hosted by Stanford's University Corporate & Foundation Relations team and the VPDoR Limited Submissions team. We'll cover Keck's mission and funding priorities, what makes a successful application, how to align your research with foundation goals, and proposal messaging strategy.
