The National Science Foundation (NSF) X-Labs initiative is a specialized funding mechanism designed to accelerate the development of novel platform technologies and use-inspired scientific breakthroughs. This program targets high-impact R&D that typically falls outside the scope of traditional academic grants or industry laboratory structures.

The fundamental purpose of NSF X-Labs is to establish and support research teams focused on the following pillars:

The Scientific Instrumentation for Sensing and Imaging topic targets the development of revolutionary platform technologies in sensing, imaging, and supporting hardware. The program aims to redefine the limits of scientific observation by moving beyond incremental improvements toward entirely new modalities for discovery.

The Equipment Grants Program (EGP) increases access to shared special‑purpose equipment for scientific research in the food and agricultural sciences.

EGP supports the purchase of equipment for fundamental or applied research and either enhances existing capacity (through updates or expansions) or adds new capacity (through acquisition of new equipment) at research institutions.

The program aims to improve the quality and broaden the scope of research in food and agricultural sciences, including data science and data systems, by enabling institutions to acquire instrumentation that strengthens research capacity and advances their scientific contributions.

It focuses on bridging the gap between current quantum components and scalable, integrated architectures.

NSF Tech Accelerators invest in teams and provide comprehensive guidance and support throughout the entire lab-to-market pathway. Funded teams benefit from strategic partnerships, mentorship and commercialization resources focused on customer discovery, innovation processes and other entrepreneurial skills to take their technology to the next level.

With fast-paced, clear research milestones and actionable outcomes (e.g., patents, licenses, entity formation, partnerships, pilots, demos and other scaling methods), the initiative accelerates translation at speed and scale, strengthening the nation's workforce in deep technology areas.

The purpose of the NCI Pathway to Independence Award for Early-Stage Postdoctoral Researchers (K99/R00) program is to increase and maintain a strong cohort of new and talented, NCI-supported, independent investigators. This program is designed for postdoctoral fellows with research and/or clinical doctoral degrees who do not require an extended period of mentored research training beyond their doctoral degrees. The objective of this award is to facilitate a timely transition of these fellows from their mentored, postdoctoral research positions to independent tenure-track (or equivalent) faculty positions. The program will provide independent NCI research support during this transition to help awardees to launch competitive, independent research careers. Each eligible institution may submit up to a combined total of four applications (one in Cancer Data Science, one in Cancer Control Science, one in Molecular/Precision Cancer Prevention, and one in Other Cancer Research).

TechAccess: AI-Ready America is a national-scale initiative to accelerate Artificial Intelligence (AI) readiness and adoption across the U.S. by strengthening coordination, leveraging partnerships and resources, filling gaps, and scaling what works — so local and state priorities can lead in shaping an AI-driven economy that benefits all Americans.

Unlike initiatives centered around K – 16 education, AI-Ready America additionally reaches businesses, public-serving organizations, and individuals, among others, expanding access to AI knowledge, tools, and resources. The program also emphasizes practical implementation through hands-on assistance and workforce up-skilling, including experiential learning such as internships, project-based work, and apprenticeships, to ensure stakeholders can effectively apply and innovate with AI.

For nearly three decades, Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation has provided significant financial support to some incredibly promising physician scientists who are applying novel and state-of-the-art techniques to address fundamental problems in the genesis and treatment of blood related cancers. Since 1996, the Foundation has committed nearly $45 million in grants to over 330 junior faculty members at the nation’s leading institutions. These grants continue to be a sign of excellence and represent support for many of the most exciting new scientific ideas in blood cancer research. Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation remains committed to funding innovative, translational proposals and to supporting promising independent early-career investigators, rather than well-established, senior scientists.

This grant is tailored for tenure-track faculty members in their first to fourth year at United States institutions, holding M.D. and/or Ph.D. degrees. It aims to support these early-career scientists in establishing their research projects to a point where they can secure NIH R01 or other independent funding. Faculty must be engaged in basic and translational research that has the potential to make fundamental advances in biomedical science.

The Department will fund grantees that use evidence-based strategies to prepare scholars in special education, early intervention, and related services at the bachelor's degree, certification, master's degree, educational specialist degree, or clinical doctoral degree levels to serve in a variety of settings, including natural environments (the home and community settings in which children with and without disabilities participate), early learning programs, child care, classrooms, and schools.

Activities funded through Grants for Arts Projects (GAP) enable Americans throughout the nation to experience the arts, foster and celebrate America’s artistic heritage and cultural legacy, and benefit from arts education at all stages of life. We also support arts and health programs, including creative arts therapies, that advance the well-being of people and communities. We strongly encourage applications for arts projects that focus on one or more agency funding priorities.

The Challenge is a skill-based competition that awards projects focused on providing sustainable access to safe water or sanitation in two categories: 1) Clean Water or Sanitation: Projects must advance sustainable access to safe water where it is at risk and/or improve access to sanitation; and 2) Ocean: Projects must support ocean health, marine ecosystems, or ocean-based solutions that contribute to environmental sustainability and resilience.

U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office (HGEO) and Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs (IE) are soliciting applications from institutions of higher education (IHEs) through the Partnerships for Academic-Career Training (PACT) Initiative. Awards will establish regional consortia which must include at least one two-year IHE (e.g., vocational schools, trade schools, technical colleges, community colleges, Tribal colleges), at least two industry employers, and at least one workforce development entity. The prime applicant must be an IHE and must have signed documentation of commitment from each consortium partner.

Objective
The goal of the PACT initiative is to increase the number of highly skilled individuals entering the American energy workforce. During the application period, each consortium will choose between the two topic areas listed below:
Topic A - Enhance: applicants seeking resources to enhance their existing training program(s) or reorient them to focus on energy careers.
Topic B - Establish: applicants seeking resources to establish a new training program to focus on energy careers.
Training program participants will, upon completion, receive stackable credentials relevant to the applicant’s identified technology area.

Awarded projects for either topic will involve a two-phase approach:
Phase 1 - involves an initial planning period for the workforce consortium to design and plan a training program(s) which leads to energy jobs.
Phase 2 - involves executing the training programs designed in Phase 1.
