The William T. Grant Scholars Program supports promising early‑career researchers through five‑year research and mentoring plans designed to expand their expertise into new disciplines, methods, or content areas. It encourages scholars to take meaningful risks by providing structured mentoring and a supportive academic community.

Applicants should have a strong record of high‑quality research and a clear interest in shifting their research trajectory. Proposed projects must address either reducing inequality in youth outcomes or improving the use of research evidence in policy and practice.

Awards are based on applicants’ potential to become influential researchers, demonstrated through creative, rigorous scholarship and a strong first‑authored publication record, and on the clarity of their plans to significantly broaden their expertise through well‑defined research and mentoring activities.

The DOE is soliciting applications from interdisciplinary teams to address the Genesis Mission National Science and Technology Challenges. This initiative supports a broader national effort, established through a recent Executive Order, to advance AI-driven innovation for solving complex energy, environmental, and security challenges.

The program aims to accelerate scientific discovery and R&D workflows through the development of advanced AI models and frameworks. Competitive projects will demonstrate how AI enables a clear “AI advantage,” providing capabilities, efficiencies, or insights beyond conventional approaches.

Projects funded under this solicitation are expected to propose an approach or cluster of related approaches that will be pursued in two phases in the following topic areas: advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, critical materials, nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, quantum information science, semiconductors and microelectronics, discovery science, and energy.

Teams are encouraged to leverage DOE resources, including National Laboratories, user facilities, industry partnerships, and academic collaborations. Successful outputs are expected to contribute to and integrate with platforms such as the American Science Cloud.

These grants are for specific one-year research projects which are hypothesis-driven and focus on areas related to survivorship and supportive care of children and adolescents with cancer. Applications are accepted from Ph.D., D.N.P., M.D./D.O. holders. Examples include but are not limited to: studies related to the burden of morbidity, cause-specific mortality, understanding the pathogenesis of treatment-related complications, patient-reported outcomes or quality of life, health communication, health promotion, and psychosocial support across the trajectory from diagnosis to survivorship or end-of-life care.

The Exceptional Project Grant recognizes creative, unique and innovative research related to breast cancer. The Young Investigator Grant helps advance the careers of young researchers who do not yet have their own major grant support, but who design and conduct their own independent research projects.

The Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences provides funding to young investigators who demonstrate outstanding promise as contributors in science relevant to human health. The program makes grants to selected academic institutions to support the independent research of outstanding individuals who are in their first few years of their appointment at the assistant professor level.
Based on their performance during their education and training, candidates should demonstrate outstanding promise as contributors in science relevant to human health. This program does not fund clinical trials research. Strong proposals will incorporate particularly creative and pioneering approaches to basic, translational, and applied biomedical research. Candidates whose work is based on biomedical principles but who bring in concepts and theories from more diverse fields are encouraged to apply. Ideas with the potential to produce an unusually high impact are encouraged.
Investigator Effort: It is expected that Pew scholars will spend at least 80 percent of their time in work or activities related to the accomplishment of their overall research goals (which are not restricted to the specific aims proposed for this award). However, Pew provides flexible support to the general research aims of the scholar and does not require effort reporting.

Limited submission funding opportunity for extraordinary researchers offering the best hope for a cure to childhood cancer. The foundation has launched three institutional priorities: Powering Research, Equitable Care, and Survivorship & Mental Health. For the 2026 grant cycle, PCRF will open funding exclusively for Emerging Investigator Grants, reflecting our commitment to supporting the next generation of pediatric cancer researchers and strengthening the future research pipeline. PCRF plans to reopen the full grant cycle in 2027, including Translational Research Grants, Legacy Researcher Grants, and additional funding opportunities.

The EFRC program brings together world-class teams of scientists from universities, DOE national laboratories, and other institutions to perform energy-relevant basic research with a scope and complexity beyond what is possible in single-investigator or small-group awards. These multi-investigator, multi-disciplinary centers accelerate transformative scientific advances for the most challenging topics in materials sciences, chemical sciences, geosciences, and biosciences. EFRCs integrate experiments, theory, computation, and AI/ML; develop innovative experimental and theoretical tools that illuminate fundamental processes in unprecedented detail; and create an enthusiastic, interdisciplinary, workforce of energy-focused scientists.

BES is soliciting applications in two general categories: BES Report Topics and Special Topics.

Projects funded under this NOFO must demonstrate measurable improvements in electric grid capacity and system value (usefulness), combining physical capacity gains from reconductoring with operational efficiency and/or flexibility from other Advanced Transmission Technologies. Applications must show how these complementary technologies:
• Expand transfer capability
• Strengthen reliability and resource adequacy
• Reduce consumer cost impact while utilizing existing rights of way

DOE will prioritize projects that can be implemented quickly to deliver durable physical upgrades and dynamic operational gains that together increase the value, performance, security, resilience, affordability, and reliability of the nation’s electric grid. Detailed technical descriptions of the topic areas are provided in the sections that follow.

Catalyst Awards provide an opportunity to conduct preliminary work on high-risk, high-reward research addressing a wide variety of clinical disease areas. The target of the Falk Catalyst Award’s funding are projects at the intersection of technology and clinical science, intended to move from basic science insights towards solutions, techniques, and tools that can be transferred to clinical practice in the near term. The Catalyst Research Award Program provides one to two years of seed funding to enable planning and development of projects,teams, tools,techniques, and management infrastructure necessary to successfully compete for two- to three-year awards through the Transformational Research Award Program. The work proposed in the Catalyst submission will serve to demonstrate the scientific promise, infrastructure, methods, and preliminary data in support of further transformational research.

With this program solicitation, the Foundation is taking the next step in implementing the National Quantum Virtual Laboratory (NQVL) concept as an overarching shared infrastructure designed to facilitate the translation from basic science and engineering to the resultant technology, while at the same time emphasizing and advancing its scientific and technical value. The NQVL aims to develop and utilize use-inspired and application-oriented quantum technologies. In the process, NQVL researchers will explore quantum frontiers, foster the development of QISE education and workforce development strategies, engage in outreach activities at all levels, and promote input and participation from the full spectrum of talent in QISE, thereby lowering barriers at all entry points of the research enterprise. Engagement with all sectors of the United States (U.S.) QISE community will be necessary for this initiative to succeed, and, indeed, the project is designed to include participation from a full spectrum of organizations who have expertise to contribute. In particular, NSF recognizes that the involvement of industry partners is essential and will welcome these to be a part of the overall structure. Partnerships with other U.S. Federal agencies under the NQI umbrella are also encouraged.

While this solicitation lays out the vision for the entire NQVL program that includes Quantum Science and Technology Demonstration (QSTD) projects, support for enabling technologies through Transformative Advances in Quantum Systems (TAQS), as well as a central coordination hub, only proposals for Design- and Implementation-phase QSTDs are solicited at this time.

Submission of a QSTD:Design proposal is contingent upon the existence of a QSTD:Pilot project in the same topical area, and the positive recommendation from the Conceptual Design Review of the QSTD:Pilot project. The QSTD:Design project builds on progress made in the QSTD:Pilot phase.

Submission of a QSTD:Implementation proposal is contingent upon the existence of a QSTD:Design project in the same topical area, and the positive recommendation from the Preliminary Design Review of the QSTD:Design project. The QSTD:Implementation project builds on progress made in the QSTD:Design phase.

The goals of DE-FOA-003541 include: (1) Supporting, maintaining, or enhancing an institution’s capacities to attract and teach high quality students interested in nuclear energy-related studies; (2) building an institution’s research or education capabilities; and (3) enhancing an institution’s capabilities to perform R&D that is relevant to NE’s broader mission.

The NQNI program will empower researchers nationwide to advance critical and emerging technologies. Through NQNI, NSF will establish an open-access network of research facilities to spur innovations in future quantum technologies, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, manufacturing, biotechnology, and other areas of national priority.

The NQNI solicitation establishes a competition for a network of university user facility Sites. The selection of user facility Sites will be based on their technical capabilities and instrumentation (specifically, fabrication, characterization, and expertise) to address current and anticipated user needs across quantum information science and engineering (QISE), nanoscience, nanoengineering, and nanotechnology. Site selection will also be based on plans to open facilities and instrumentation for external use, education, training, outreach, and workforce development.
