October 3, 2024: Strategy for Shared Instrumentation Grant-Seekers

Hosted together with VPDoR’s Shared Research Platforms team

A hybrid session on shared instrumentation grant preparation, followed by a networking lunch. Topics discussed included identifying suitable instrumentation funding, insights into key programs (NSF MRI, NIH S10, DoD DURIP, and Stanford C-ShaRP), developing a long-range timeline for applying to multiple funding opportunities, and Stanford's internal vetting processes. 

June 27, 2024: Peer Support & Feedback 

Hosted by OFDDE as part of the 2024 Faculty Writers' Retreat

A thought-starter for early-career faculty on how to activate peer networks to strengthen their writing. Attendees talked about common strategies across fields (e.g., writing groups, red team reviews), and how to make the most of the feedback they received. 

April 25, 2024: Digital & Public Humanities Grant-writing Workshop

Hosted by CESTA as part of Global Horizons for the Digital and Public Humanities

This guided discussion focused on seeking funding for international projects in the digital and public humanities, including grant-seeking strategies and considerations for international projects, why and how to work with Program Officers, and common review processes for different types of funders. 

January 24, 2024: SLAC-Stanford Collaboration workshop

This virtual event was held for participants to learn more about the recently announced call for Energy Frontier Research Centers by the Department of Energy, hear about proposal development resources at Stanford and SLAC, learn about SLAC capabilities, and connect with potential collaborators.

October 26, 2023: A Conversation about Post-Tenure Funding for Arts & Humanities Faculty

Hosted together with the Stanford Humanities Center

A breakfast and conversation focused on seeking external funding in the Arts and Humanities after tenure. Attendees come away with new ideas for integrating grant-seeking into their post-tenure careers as well as resources for seeking external funding as a Stanford PI. 

June 8, 2023: IES Funding Info Session

Hosted by the Stanford Graduate School of Education

This event included a panel and Q&A with program officers from the Institute of Education Sciences, as well as discussion with Stanford faculty previously funded by IES.  (Faculty Panelists: Dr. Rebecca Silverman, Dr. Chris Lemons)

May 1, 2023: Funding Your Collaborative Research through NEH

Hosted together with the Stanford Humanities Center

Participants at this hybrid workshop learned about the National Endowment for the Humanities' review process and funding priorities, the landscape of relevant opportunities, and what it's like to apply. Speakers: Dr. Elaine Treharne, Dr. Lerone Martin, Will Fenton, and Madison Priest.
