Stanford Research Related Online Systems Overview

Axess

Axess is where members of the Stanford community review and update information in their electronic records. All faculty, staff, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are required to sign a Patent and Copyright Agreement, the SU-18 form, which is signed electronically in Axess as a condition of either employment or enrollment at Stanford University. Using Axess, students perform functions such as: add, drop, and evaluate classes; update addresses; review grades; request official transcripts; review degree requirements status; review and accept financial aid awards; and check their University bill. Faculty, instructors, and advisors can submit grades; review evaluations; and monitor advisees. Staff members can monitor financial and benefit information and register for training courses. Your SUNet ID and password are required each time you use Axess

Cayuse Proposals

Cayuse Proposals (S2S) is the system-to-system solution Stanford and 150+ peer institutions use to prepare and submit federal sponsored project proposal applications thru the Grants.gov portal.  Anyone can request access to Cayuse via submitting a HelpSU ticket for Cayuse access to the SeRA Support Team.

CRISP

Clinical Research Invoicing System for Participants (CRISP) is a system that supports the tracking of patient events and is currently the invoicing process for industry sponsored clinical trials only. CRISP tracks clinical trial events and is used by both the department Financial Specialist and Study Coordinators along with the Sponsored Receivables Management (SRM).  Invoices need to be processed through CRISP before SRM receives and posts payments.  This is for both invoiceable items and patient care costs processed through Case Report Forms (CRFs).

eProtocol

eProtocol is  used at Stanford to submit, review, and approve research. There are four modules in eProtocol. You can view your protocols for any one module, or use the “My Dashboard” view to see all of your protocols in one place.

FFIT

The online Faculty Financial Inquiry Tool (FFIT) helps you manage your University financial resources by providing balances and drill-down transaction details for all your active accounts and funds. All faculty are automatically give access to FFIT.

Fingate

Fingate is the gateway to financial activities at Stanford for staff, faculty students/parents and suppliers. 

iLab Systems

The online iLabShared Scientific Facilities Management System allows you to find and schedule services for shared facilities at Stanford.

My Accounts

My Accounts is a a tool within the Stanford electronic Research Administration (SeRA) system for PIs where they and their administrators can view all their Stanford accounts in one place. Funding, commitments and expenditures are updated daily!

OBI

OBI stands for Oracle Business Intelligence – a suite of reporting and analysis tools in an easy to use interface. The Evolve Financial Reporting (EFR) project is using OBI to evolve financial reporting, by enabling high quality business decisions through an integrated set of reporting and analysis capabilities.

OPACS Dashboard

The Outside Professional Activities Certification System (OPACS) is a dashboard for transitional and annual disclosure reporting. If you have PHS-funded research, you are required to add or update new financial relationships within 30 days of discovering or acquiring a financial interest.

Oracle

Oracle Financials is the core of Stanford's Accounting System, allowing the University to conduct and manage its financial affairs.

SeRA

The Stanford electronic Research Administration (SeRA) system is Stanford's enterprise system of record for sponsored research activity.  SeRA tracks the sponsored project lifecycle from initial proposal development through project closeout.  Anyone with an active SU Net ID can access SeRA.

Search Stanford people in one place. The search looks at the entire content of someone’s profile. Add your bio and keep it current. Sign in at the top to update your profile.

Sunflower

SunFlower is used to maintain the University’s official individual asset records for capital equipment, sponsor owned property, loaned equipment, leased equipment, and at the department's directions, non-capital equipment that is sensitive or hazardous.

SPARC

SPARC serves as a portal for common property tasks and acts as a supplemental front-end for certain Sunflower activities.

STARS

You can find the STARS link once you sign on to Axess. STARS (Stanford Training and Registration System) is where faculty and staff can find and register for training classes.

Note, many sponsors, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation (NSF), require investigators to register for sponsor accounts in their respective systems in order to submit proposals.  Information about registering accounts with the most commonly applied to sponsors is available on the Office of Research Administration (ORA) Sponsor Accounts and Guidelines page.
