Human Resources & Academic Staff Research Program

The Human Resources & Academic Appointments team provides guidance, resources, and support to all academic and non-academic staff working under the umbrella of the office of the Vice Provost and Dean of Research (VPDoR), including those employed at its independent laboratories, centers, and institutes. We also assist with Academic Staff Research Appointments.

The goal of the Human Resources & Academic Appointments team is to foster a work environment where every individual brings unique perspectives and talents that contribute to the organizational ecosystem. We strive to ensure our workplace is one where everyone succeeds.  

The Human Resources & Academic Appointments team works in partnership with staff and managers on all HR-related matters throughout the employee lifecycle. As strategic thought partners, we provide insightful collaboration, by mitigating risk, and reaching consistent and equitable solutions. Academic Staff-Research (AS-R) Appointments

Our team assists in the process of academic staff research appointments. Working in a capacity which ordinarily requires a Ph.D. or its equivalent in research skill and subject knowledge, an AS-R is involved in the execution of the research activities of  a Principal Investigator (PI). Their primary purpose is to assist the PI in attaining the goals of the PI's sponsored research projects.
