This course is part of Cardinal Curriculum Level I Certification. Take this course after completing ORA-1101 Understanding Cost Policy.

This course is an introduction to research administration at Stanford University. It covers a lot of territory at a high level. It provides you with a framework for future learning you will gain through additional courses and work experience. The course will help you understand the scope of research administration, potential pitfalls you may encounter, and the resources that are available to you.

The material is divided into modules so you can fit the course into your life. You don’t have to read all the modules at once, although many people do. You can come and go in whatever way works for you. You can go back and review modules anytime before you take the final test to receive credit. You can audit the course material if you do not want to receive credit. And this course is always available as a desktop reference.

After you complete this online course, you are required to attend ORA-1103 - Overview of Research and the Regulatory Environment Companion Workshop zoom webinar to extend and reinforce your learning. You will apply the concepts you learned online with guidance from the instructors who will answer your questions and flesh out some of the nuances in the topics. It is offered on specific dates each month. When you complete the online course you will be prompted to register for the workshop.
